We have compiled some useful information for those of you in need of financial assistance. We want our membership to know that we understand that these measures are band-aid solutions to the larger issue of an increasingly inaccessible education system. More and more of us are graduating with mortgage-sized debts and some of us are paying over $40,000 in tuition fees. Many of us find ourselves unable to graduate because of financial difficulties.
On top of that, we are paying more and getting less. Students in Ontario pay the highest tuition fees, receive the lowest per-student funding from the government, sit in the largest classes and receive the least one-on-one time with their professors.
We want you to know that we are continuing to pressure the government to address the root of these issues – the government must fund education adequately and must mandate a reduction in tuition fees to ensure the accessibility of post-secondary education.
