Lobby, Research, Mobilize
We take an approach to our campaigns that include accurate research, lobbying of the appropriate official decision-making bodies and membership mobilization. In order to achieve our goals, we need to make sure that we clearly articulate what we want to decision-makers, show statistics and research about how changes could affect our lives and also show them that our membership support our goals through mobilization.
Most campaigns that we have won have had a strong element of membership mobilization. From a national protests in 2007 resulting in a system of grants, to provincial protests in 2003 resulting in a tuition fee freeze, to a sit-in at the President’s office resulting in undergraduate students being permitted to use Robarts library in the 1970s, membership mobilization is a crucial piece of our approach.
